Six Comets hit double figures as Mayville State thumps Trinity Bible 107-60

Mayville, N.D. – Tired legs didn't stop the Comet women from putting up points on Tuesday night at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse. Mayville State University shot .658 percent from the floor (25-for-38) in the second half as they lit up the net for 65 points en route to a 107-60 victory.

The Comets, coming off three tough road exhibition games against UND, Bemidji State, and NDSU had six players hit double figures tonight. Marcisa McMillan and Hailey Longtin led the way with 22 points each. McMillan had a good game rebounding the ball as well as she pulled down nine rebounds in the game. She was also a force on the defensive end as she blocked four shots for the Comet defense.

Angela Tauer came off the bench and had a nice game for Mayville State. Tauer finished with 17 points shooting 6-for-7 from the floor. Tauer was on fire from the three-point line as she was an amazing 4-for-5 from there.

Missy Kassube followed Tauer and recorded a double-double off the bench. Kassube, scored 11 points and had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Liza Hoglo and Sabrina Rude rounded out the scoring with 10 points each.

Mayville State had an advantage in field goal percentage shooting .486 percent (36-for74) compared to the Lions .314 percent (22-for-70). The Comets also outscored the Lions at the free throw line considerably. The Comets finished at a .828 percent clip (24-for-29) while the Lions shot .636 percent (14-for-22) in the game.

Mayville State University (6-1) has another game on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at home against the University of Minnesota-Crookston. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be an exhibition contest against the Division two “Golden Eagles”.
