Box Score The Comets Men's Basketball team looked to extend their winning streak when they traveled to St.Scholastica on Friday night. Led by
Chuck Robinson and
Jamal Branco, the Comets upended the Saints 79-62.
The game was tight through the first 10 minutes with the score tied at 16. The Comets then ripped off a 14-3 run over the next four minutes to take a 30-19 lead. Mayville State was able to add to that lead by halftime, going up 41-27. The Comets shot 49% from the field while holding the Saints to 37%. The Saints opened the second half strongly, outscoring the Comets 19-10 in the first eight minutes of the half. Mayville State then rattled off 10 straight points to boost the lead back to 15. The Comets got the lead up to 24 with three minutes left, and cruised to a 79-62 victory.
The Comets ended up shooting 52% from the field, and displayed excellent ball movement as they notched 22 assists on 32 field goals.
Chuck Robinson led all scorers with 24 points on 11/17 shooting.
Jamal Branco recorded his second double-double of the season with 19 points (9/12 from the field), 10 assists and also grabbed 6 rebounds.
Josh DeWitt added 4 steals.Â
The Comets record now stands at 4-3 overall. Mayville State plays St. Cloud State in an exhibition game Saturday night.
