Comets Fall to Blue Hawks

The Mayville State Comet Football team traveled to Dickinson, N.D. to face off against the Dickinson State Blue Hawks today in a battle between North Star Athletic Association teams. Temperatures hovered around 30 degrees for the duration of the game, but that would not deter the Hawks as they were able to move the ball early in the game to build a lead over the Comets. Mayville State found some success late in the game, but couldn't dig themselves out of the hole early on against the DSU defense.

MSU gave up too much early on and couldn't rebound to put a stop to the the Blue Hawk offense. Early into the first quarter, Hayden Gibson found Tyger Frye with a 9-yard pass for a touchdown at the 9:16 mark for DSU. Later in the first quarter, Amad Andrews scored on a 19-yard run to put the Hawks up 14-0.

The second quarter saw two more touchdowns from DSU. The Hawks would go into the break with a comfortable 27-0 advantage.

The Comets didn't get much going all day long, but the team did make a mark late in the game with a 31-yard touchdown run from Jacob Hanson and a 22-yard touchdown reception for Trent Momon to make things 40-14 late in the game.

Mayville State put an end to the home field shutout with the Hanson touchdown rush and the Creighton Pfau to Trent Momon connection. Despite the Comet's fourth quarter efforts, Dickinson State defeated MSU with the sizeable 40-14 win.
