The Comets fell to the Viterbo V-Hawks 2-0 on Friday morning, ending their season in the double-elimination conference tournament.
MSU had a tough time with the Viterbo pitching once again, MSU lost to Viterbo 2-1 in the opening game of the conference tournament and were shut out and held to four hits in the loss on Friday.
Mayville State had an opportunity to get on the board in the sixth inning with bases loaded and one out, but the V-Hawks brought Caitlyn Kozik into the circle to get out of the jam and record the last five outs of the game for Viterbo.
The V-Hawks didn't have much going at the plate either,
Annika Seedborg only allowed four hits with four strikeouts. But Viterbo was able to capitalize with a timely RBI double from Sonya McCormick in the fifth inning, the next batter put down a bunt to bring McCormick in to make it 2-0.
Kendyl Schine led things off in the pitcher's circle for Viterbo. She lasted five and a third innings, allowing three hits and no runs while striking out one.
Mayville State had four hits on the day. Foster and
Nicole Bunting both collected two hits to lead the Comets at the plate.
The Comets end their season with a 24-18 overall record.
