Jamestown, N.D. – The Mayville State University volleyball team dropped their final match to University of Jamestown by a final score of 3-0. The Comets finish the fall with a 13-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
The Jimmies and Comets were tied at nine in the first set before Jamestown took advantage of a couple of MSU errors to spark a run and give them a 21-13 advantage. The Jimmies would win the first set by a final score of 25-18. University of Jamestown started fast in the second set, jumping out to an 8-2 advantage.
MSU would close the gap to 8-12 in the second set before the Jimmies would go on another run to give them a 16-9 lead. The Jimmies would take the second set 25-12. The Comets and Jimmies were tied at five in the third set before the Jimmies took three straight points to take a three-point advantage. The Comets would claw right back scoring four-of-the-next five points to tie the game at nine.
Jamestown would have another large run in the third set to create some separation and pick up the sweep over the Comets. The Comets would finish with 21 kills, 21 assists, 54 digs, and seven blocks.
Victoria Johnson finished the game with seven kills and three blocks.
Ashley Pyburn tallied five kills on 20 attempts with one block in the loss.
Elora Passa finished with four kills, 10 assists, and eight digs.
Mason Hart tallied a team-high 16 digs in the back row. Amy Siem also tallied 14 digs in the back row.
