Box Score Madison, S.D. – The Mayville State University Women's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game to Dakota State Friday night by a final score of 55-99. The Comets drop to 2-1 on the season.
The Comets scored the first two points of the game on an offensive put back by
Danneka Voegeli to give the Comets an early lead. Dakota State would not look back the rest of the way, going on a 22-4 run over five minutes in the first quarter to have an 18-point advantage over the Comets.
Multiple runs in the second quarter gave the Trojans a 45-point advantage over the Comets heading into the intermission. MSU was outscored by the Trojans in the third quarter by nine and were trailing by 57 heading into the final quarter. MSU would tally a game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter and outscored the Trojans by 13.
Mayville State finished the game shooting 37.5 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from behind the arc, 9-of-11 from the free throw line. They also finished with 35 rebounds, 14 assists on 21 field goals, and five steals.
Jordan Zrust had a team-high 20 points with five rebounds, and one steal.
Danneka Voegeli and
Stephanie Miller each scored eight points in the loss. Miller also recorded two rebounds, and one assists.
CJ Decker scored two points, tallied seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Grace Cote scored eight points off the bench with two rebounds.
The Comets are back in action tomorrow afternoon at the Dakota Clash, as they face off against Presentation College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM in Madison.
