MINNEAPOLIS, MINN – The Comet baseball team opened up the 2020 season early Saturday morning with a split against Dakota Wesleyan at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., the home of the Minnesota Vikings.
Game One
Mayville State 4, Dakota Wesleyan 3
Mayville State took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over Dakota Wesleyan University. The game was tied at three with Mayville State batting in the bottom of the seventh when
Michael Theisen singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Quinton Bidon took the win for Mayville State. He lasted one inning, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two and walking one.
Conner DiNaro threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Caleb Johnson took the loss for Dakota Wesleyan University. He surrendered two runs on five hits over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking zero.
