Comets drop NSAA matchup to Blue Hawks

Dickinson, N.D. - The Mayville State University football team dropped a conference game at Dickinson State by a final score of 26-51. The Comets drop to 0-2 on the regular season. 
 
The Comets would take the lead with 4:50 left in the first quarter on a one-yard rushing touchdown by Creighton Pfau. The PAT was blocked and returned for two points. The Blue Hawks would score the next 21 points to take a 23-6 lead in the second quarter. 
 
Pfau would throw a touchdown to Jacquante Pitts late in the second quarter to trim the lead down to 13-23. After an Austin DeLaroque interception on the next Blue Hawk possession, Pfau would throw his second touchdown within one minute to Elijah Roundtree to put the halftime score at 19-23.
 
After two 3-and-outs by both teams, Dickinson scored a touchdown to give the Blue Hawks a double-digit lead. The Comets would answer right back with Pfau's second rushing touchdown of the day to cut the lead back to four.
 
Mayville State would head into the fourth quarter down 11. DSU would score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to give them a 26-51 victory over the Comets.
 
Creighton Pfau threw for 257 yards on 23 completions and two touchdowns. He also led the Comet rushing attack with 58 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Maalik Flowers caught seven passes for 76 yards. Jacquante Pitts caught one of the touchdown passes in the loss. 
 
Austin DeLaroque finished the game with seven tackles and one interception. Josiah Walker finished with five solo tackles and one assist for six total tackles and one tackle for loss. 
 
The Comets are back in action next week for Farmers Bowl, as they host Dakota State. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 pm from Jerome Berg Field.
