Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State University baseball team travels to University of Jamestown Thursday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm from Jack Brown Field.
The Comet baseball team enters this game with a 2-1 record in the fall, dropping their last game Monday against Valley City State. Mayville State on the short season is hitting .278 with five doubles, three home runs, 14 runs batted in and five stolen bases. The pitching staff is allowing a 3.67 earned run average in 27.0 innings, giving up 26 hits, 11 earned runs, 12 walks, and 25 strikeouts.
Payton DeLuca is leading the MSU offense with a .583 batting average with seven hits and one double. Skylar Forst is posting a .455 batting average with five hits, one double, one home run, and two runs batted in.
Adam Senden leads the Comets with two home runs in three games.
Matthew Johnston pitched 6.0 innings in his only appearance allowing one earned run. Kenneth Stewart has pitched 4.0 innings, allowing one earned run, two walks, and six strikeouts.
University of Jamestown enters today with an 0-1, with the only game being the 9/16 matchup between the Comets and Jimmies. UJ is hitting .297 as a team with one double and one home run. Grand Okawa and Brian Rice are hitting .667 with two hits and one walk. Tayler Cullen is 2-for-5 on the season with one double and two runs batted in. Trey Evans has not allowed a run in 2.1 innings pitched.
