Two-run seventh inning pushes Comets past Vikings

Valley City, N.D. – The Mayville State University Baseball team picks up win number one on Monday night against the Vikings by a final score of 2-0.

How It Happened:
 
The Comets started the second inning with a leadoff double but left him stranded at second base to leave their second runner on base in consecutive innings.
 
The Vikings loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs but a groundout to third ended the threat for the Vikings.
 
The Comets would put another runner in scoring position in the top of the fifth inning put a lineout to right field with two outs that ended the inning.
 
Mayville State broke the scoreless game in the top of the seventh inning on three hits. Satrom led off the inning with a single, followed by a sacrifice bunt from Villanueva to advance him to second base.
 
After a one-out strikeout with Satrom on third, Hughes delivered a single to right field to score the first run of the game. Later in the inning, Munroe singled to right field after Hughes stole second base to score the second run of the inning.
 
Connor Cory pitched out of two jams in the eighth and the ninth inning allowing two runners on base but closing the door giving the Comets a victory on Monday.
