Comets lose shootout to Warriors at Jerome Berg Field

Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State Comets went for a 2-point conversion with 12 seconds left in the game but the try failed and the Comets dropped a nail-bitter 51-52 on Homecoming. The Comets drop to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

How It Happened:
The Mayville State Comets were trailing by seven points early in the first quarter when Maalik Flowers caught a touchdown pass from Tim Salmon for 66-yards to trail by one after the PAT was missed.
The Comets were trailing by one score near the end of the first quarter when Javeion Davison returns a touchdown from 82-yards to trail 13-14 after one-quarter of play.
Waldorf scores a touchdown early in the second quarter to take an eight-point lead. Later in the quarter, the Warriors kick a 23-yard field goal to take an 11-point lead with six minutes left in the half.
Almost four minutes later MSU scored on a 62-yard touchdown from Tim Salmon to Reece Smith to cut the lead to four. After a late touchdown by the Warriors, Coleman drilled a 21-yard field goal to end the half
Mayville State scored the only touchdown in the third quarter on an interception from Justice Sosnicki for a touchdown to cut the lead to one.
The Comets would take their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Salmon to Reece Smith to take a 7-point lead.
Waldorf tied the game with two minutes left in the game at 45, after a 3-and-out by the Comets, WU would complete a 72-yard touchdown to take a 7-point lead with 47 seconds left.
MSU would score a touchdown with 12 seconds left in the game when Davison scored a touchdown from 40-yards. The Comets would go for the two-point conversion and the try would fail and the Comets would drop the conference game by one.
The Comets would finish the game with 49 yards rushing, 377 passing yards, 426 total yards in the game and did not have an interception in the game.
