Comets comes back from two-sets down to defeat Vikings Wednesday night

Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State Comets come back from 0-2 to defeat the Vikings in five sets on Wednesday night. The Comets move to 14-14 overall and 4-9 in conference play.

How It Happened:
The Valley City State Vikings took the first two sets by a final score of 25-22 and 25-23. In both sets, the games were tied late in the set and the Vikings finished on runs to take the sets.
In the third set, the game was tied at 20 when the Vikings went on a 23-20 lead, MSU would tie the game at 23 and would take the next point to give the Comets set point. After the game was tied at 25, Samantha Passa and Lily Pyle tallied back-to-back kills gave MSU the third set victory.
The fourth set was tied at 20 when both teams traded two points to tie us at 22. Four points later it was tied at 24 and Lily Pyle gave the Comets the lead at 25-24. After the game was tied again at 26, Elora Passa and Rian Richards tallied kills to win the fourth set by a final score of 28-26.
It was all Comets in the fifth set, as the Comets jumped out a 7-2 lead. The Comets held that five-point lead throughout the set as the Comets take the fifth set 15-7.
Mayville State finished the game with 71 kills on 234 attempts for a .158 hitting percentage. Valley City State finished with 67 kills on 242 attempts for a .153 hitting percentage. MSU also finished with 143 digs, 63 assists, 10 blocks, and one service ace.
