Passa sinks two free-throws with five seconds left to pick up road win at Bruins

Bellevue, Neb. – The Mayville State Women's Basketball team made two free throws with five seconds left to defeat the Bruins by a final score of 69-68.

How It Happened:
The Comets were up by one with 4:52 left in the first quarter when Bellevue finished the quarter on a 15-1 run to take a 13-point lead heading into the second quarter.
With MSU trailing by 11 with 1:31 left in the second quarter and finished the half with a 4-0 run to cut the lead to seven heading into the intermission.
Mayville State would tie the game at 39 with 5:05 left in the third quarter and would go on a 12-5 run to take a seven-point lead heading into the final quarter.
Bellevue would go on a run to start the fourth quarter and would cut the lead to one with 7:42 left in the quarter. The Bruins would hold a four-point lead with 2:54 left when Hughes drilled a 3-pointer to cut the lead to one.
With 41 seconds left in the game, MSU would stop the Bruins from scoring the basket and get the ball back with 14 seconds left and Passa would grab the offensive rebound with six seconds left and was fouled on the putback and would drain both free-throws to give the one-point lead and pick up the road victory.
The Mayville State Comets would finish the game shooting 42.1 percent from the field, 31.8 percent from behind the 3-point line, pulled in 38 rebounds, and dished out 14 assists.
They also finished with 34 points in the paint, 20 bench points, 11 fast breakpoints, 10 second-chance points, and 4 points off turnovers.
