Men's Basketball drops a conference game to VCSU Saturday

Mayville, N.D. – The Mayville State University Men's Basketball team dropped a conference game to Valley City State by a final score of 69-79 on Saturday.

How It Happened:
The first six minutes of the game had both teams trading baskets and we ended up tied at 11 with 14:12 left in the first half.
A few minutes later, VCSU tied the game at 16 and proceeded to go on a 9-0 run to take a 25-16 lead over the Comets. With about four minutes left in the game, the Comets would close the VCSU lead to two, on two free throws from Dillenbeck.
The Vikings would extend the lead out to five heading into the halftime break. In the first half, MSU shot 44.8 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from behind the 3-point line, pulled in 15 rebounds, and dished out nine assists.
The Comets would trail by six or more points in the 13 minutes of the second half until a 3-pointer from Ketchel trimmed the lead to five with 7:20 left in the game.
After VCSU answered with a 3-pointer, Franklin and Kramer went on a mini 5-0 run to cut the lead to three with 5:46 left in the game and forcing a Viking timeout.
The Vikings were strong down the stretch and would ice the game out and pick up the season split between the two teams.
For the game, MSU shot 41.7 percent from the field, 41.4 percent from behind the 3-point line, pulled in 30 rebounds, and dished out 15 assists.
MSU also recorded 26 points in the paint, 27 bench points, 12 points off turnovers, and recorded two second-chance points.
