Comet Baseball drops two games against Tigers Sunday

Elkhorn, Neb. – The Mayville State Baseball team dropped a doubleheader to (RV) Doane Tigers on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 4-0 and 3-4.

How It Happened: Game One
The Doane Tigers started the scoring in the third inning by scoring three runs in the inning on three hits. The Tigers would extend the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning by scoring one-run and would finish game one with a victory over the Comets.

How It Happened: Game Two
Mayville State would start the scoring in the top of the third inning on a solo home run from LaRocque to make it a 1-0 lead. In the fifth inning, the Comets would extend their lead to 2-0 on an error by the Tigers that scored Hughes.
The Doane Tigers would score in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo home run to cut the lead in half. Mayville State would score an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning on an error from the Tigers to make it a 3-1. The Tigers would tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning on a double to make it 3-3 and would force this game to go to extra innings.
After a scoreless top of the eighth inning, the Tigers would score the game-winning run and pick up the sweep over the Comets on Sunday afternoon.
