Stevens Point, Wisc. – The Mayville State Comets scored with 3:15 left in the game to defeat Wisconsin-Stevens Point for the first win of the 2022 season Saturday night by a final score of 31-24.

How It Happened:
The Comets started the scoring in the game with a 41-yard touchdown pass to Davison to jump out to an early 7-0 lead. The Pointers would score at about the midway point of the first quarter on a 47-yard field goal to make it 7-3. MSU would add another touchdown late in the first quarter on a one-yard touchdown run from Ollman to make it 14-3.
Davison would score his second touchdown of the game in the second quarter to give MSU a 21-3 lead. The Pointers would score on back-to-back possessions to cut the lead to 21-17 heading into the halftime break.
On the opening kickoff of the second half, WSPU would take the kickoff 98 yards to take their first lead of the game at 21-24. On the ensuing possession, Braeden Lacombe would tie the game at 24 on a 21-yard field goal. Salmon on second and goal from the 9-yard line would score on a rushing touchdown to give the Comets the seven-point lead. After a penalty, UWSP would have the ball down to the MSU 18-yard line, but the defense would step up and not allow a touchdown in the final minute.
The Mayville State Comets finished the game with 132 rushing yards, 280 passing yards, 6.54 yards per play, and were 6-13 on third down conversions. Defensively, MSU allowed 208 rushing yards, and 53 passing yards, and were 9-of-12 on third down.
