The Mayville State Comets started the top of the first inning at the plate. They led with a walk by Shumway and advanced to third on a wild pitch but were left stranded at the end of the inning. Mount Marty jumped in the lead to score two in the top of the first inning before the Comets had a chance to bat. The Comets came alive in the fourth inning. Sidney Fairbanks was the batter that disrupted Mount Marty's offense. With Sidney's single to center field, Desiree Lawrence advanced to third, pushing Isis Johnson across home base bringing the Comets their first run. Despite this, Mount Marty stayed unfazed and pushed past the Comets ending the game 1-5.
Sidney Fairbanks held the mound throughout all seven innings. She allowed twelve hits and five runs that helped Mount Marty secure the win.
