How It Happened:
It was a tightly contested game early as both teams continued to trade bucket for bucket as there was seven lead changes and six tied scores in the first half. The Comets would end the half on a 9-3 run with a three from Griffin with 16 seconds remaining. 
The Comets would take an eight-point lead heading into the locker room. In the second half, MSU would start strong by increasing their lead to 14 in the first five minutes. Mayville State continued to stretch out the lead at the half-way point of the second half and held a 17-point lead with 8:07 remaining in the game.
Mayville State would go on a 10-0 run with 3:27 left in the game to stretch the lead up to 24 and would end the game winning by 20. Mayville State would finish the game shooting 51.5% percent from the field, 29.4% percent three, 79.4% from the free throw line, 45 rebounds, 54 points in the paint, 48 bench points, and dished out 24 assists.
