Comet Baseball took one game during four game set with Lancers

Concordia, Kan. – The Mayville State Comets took one game last weekend against Mount Marty on Saturday and Sunday.
 
Game One: 
Mount Marty hit the ground running on Saturday afternoon scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Mayville State would answer with four runs of their own and take a two-run lead.
Mount Marty answered with three runs of their own in the third inning and took the lead back 5-4. Mount Marty added to their lead in the fifth inning scoring eight runs and jumping out to a 13-4 lead.
Mayville State would continue to fight back in the sixth inning scoring three runs to cut the lead to 6 but MM would answer with three in the sixth and win game one by a final of 16-7.

Game Two:
The Comets and Lancers traded punches in the first inning, each scoring two runs. Mount Marty would score one run in the third and fourth inning and that is all the scoring in game two as the Lancers won game two by a final of 4-2.
MSU threatened in the top of the fifth inning on Saturday with runners on first and third with one out but the Comets grounded into a double play that ended the inning.

Gregor Farquharson: 3.1 IP, 5 hits, 3 ER
Calvin Watkins: 1.0 IP, 1 SO
 
Game Three:
Mayville State started Sunday's first game of the doubleheader scoring four runs including a 1-out solo home run from Lundmark and finished with a double from Hughes that scored Jessamine.
A dominating pitching performance from Branxton Greenburg going 6.0 innings allowing only five hits, one earned run and striking out four. DeCaro closed the game in the seventh inning having a clean inning and giving the Comets the victory.

Marcus Hughes: 2 hits, 1 RBI
 
Game Four:
Runs were at a premium in the fourth game as a total of three runs were scored between the three teams.
MSU started the scoring in the second inning of the final game of the series on a Hughes single that scored Jessamine. In the third inning, MM would tie the game up on a sacrifice fly to center field.
A solo home run from the Lancers would give them the lead and finish the scoring in the final game of the series Sunday.
