Comet Baseball sweeps Viterbo, averaging 11 runs during the series

La Crosse, Wisc. – The Mayville State hitting caught fire all weekend, and completed a four-game sweep over the V-Hawks on Thursday and Friday.
 
Game One:

Viterbo started the scoring in the first inning to jump out to an early 1-0 lead.
Mayville State would take the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a rbi single from Marquez, a sacrifice fly from Villanueva, and a Senden double.
Viterbo would take the lead back in the top of the third inning on four hits and lead by one.
Mayville State would take the lead back in the bottom of the third inning on a sacrifice fly from McCorrister and a Jessamine single.
A few innings later, the V-Hawks scored two runs and took the lead back at 6-5. The V-Hawks would add another run in the top of the sixth to extend it to a two-run game.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, LaRocque tripled cleared the bases, and gave MSU an 8-7 lead. The Comets would add one run in the bottom of the seventh, and six runs in the eighth to defeat the V-Hawks in game one.

In game two, Viterbo would jump out to an early 2-0 lead on the Comets but they would take the lead in the bottom of the frame scoring four runs on four hits, and two errors.
Viterbo would score one run in the top of the third but MSU would extend their lead to 7-3 over the fifth and sixth inning. The V-Hawks would score one run in the top of the seventh but the Comets would hold on and sweep the doubleheader on Thursday.

Viterbo started the scoring in the second inning and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Mayville State answered with four runs in the bottom of the second inning on a Marquez single, a Villanueva single, and an error from the V-Hawks.
After Viterbo scored one run in the third inning, both teams went scoreless for three straight innings before MSU extended the lead to five by scoring runs on a passed ball and an error.
Viterbo scored one run in the eighth inning, but MSU would answer with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Senden sacrifice fly, Hughes double, and Lundmark sacrifice fly and the Comets would win 11-3.

For the fourth straight game, the V-Hawks scored first with one run in the first inning. Mayville State would score one run and tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on a single from Senden that scored Ferrera.
The V-Hawks would score one run in the third and fifth inning to take a two-run lead. The Comets would answer back in the fifth inning by scoring three runs on a double from LaRocque and an error from Viterbo.
Viterbo took the lead back in the sixth inning by scoring two runs and held a one-run lead. MSU bats exploded in the sixth inning scoring seven runs on five hits and one VU error, as the Comets swept the V-Hawks.
