Casselton, N.D. – The Mayville State University Softball team tallied 22 hits on Monday to pick up a doubleheader sweep over the V-Hawks.
 
Game One:

Mayville State 9, Viterbo V-Hawks 7
 
The game was scoreless through two innings, when the V-Hawks would score four runs in the top of the third inning and take an lead.
MSU would score one run in the bottom of the third inning on a rbi double from Hughes that scored Shumway.
The Comets would cut the lead to one in the bottom of the fourth inning on a 2 rbi single from Fairbanks that scored Johnson and Avila.
V-Hawks would hit two solo home runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend the lead back to three with one and a half innings left.
Mayville State would score six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with a Johnson double, Hughes single, Howell single, and three V-Hawk errors to take a 9-6 lead. Courtney Boll would give up one run in the seventh but MSU one game one by a final score of 9-7.

Mayville State started the scoring in game one with two runs in the first inning on a Pino single that scored Hughes followed by an Iverson single that scored Howell.
Viterbo answered with a solo home run in the top of the second inning to make it a 2-1 game.
Mackenzie Hughes would hit solo home runs in the third and fourth inning and the Comets would defeat the V-Hawks in game two by a final of 4-1.
