BUTTE, Mont. — Facing one of the Frontier Conference's toughest teams on the road, the Mayville State Comets were overpowered Saturday afternoon, falling 51–0 to an undefeated, number 4 ranked Montana Tech at Alumni Coliseum.
The Orediggers' balanced attack proved too much for the Comets, who were held to 188 yards of total offense. Montana Tech rolled up 438 yards and built a commanding 41–0 halftime lead behind a near-perfect performance from quarterback Jarrett Wilson, who completed 11 of 12 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the lopsided score, the Comets ran for 188 yards against one of the top defenses in the NAIA. Defensively, Mayville State had its moments as well, forcing Montana Tech into long-yardage situations in the second half and limiting big plays after the break.
The Comets move to 5-4 on the season and return home next Saturday to take on Dakota State who recently started receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll. Kickoff is slated for 4:00pm. For full schedule details visit: https://msucomets.com/sports/football/schedule
