MAYVILLE, N.D. — Mayville State dropped its Nov. 21 home matchup against undefeated Montana Tech, 79–43, as the Comets struggled early and were unable to recover from a dominant opening-quarter surge by the Orediggers.
Montana Tech opened the game on a 29-9 first quarter run. Despite the slow start, Mayville State settled in during the second quarter, outscoring the Orediggers 13-12 and showing strong defensive stretches that kept the game within reach at halftime.
Junior guard Hanna Stark led the Comets with 16 points, including a perfect 7-7 performance at the free-throw line.
Laela Jensen added 8 points, while
Taylor Hill contributed 6 points and hit a pair of threes.
Mayville State's hustle on the glass was a bright spot as
Nevaeh Tormaschy pulled down a team high 8 rebounds, helping the Comets keep the rebounding margin reasonable (36–42). The Comets finished just 12-50 (24%) from the field and 3-28 (10.7%) from three.
The Comets are back in action tomorrow as they host Montana Western at 5:00pm. For full schedule details visit:
