No. 25 Montana Tech takes down Comets in Butte

BUTTE, Mont. — Mayville State women's basketball ran into one of the Frontier Conference's top teams Saturday evening, falling 90–43 to Montana Tech on the road.

The Comets faced a tough challenge against the host Orediggers, who entered the contest with a 9–1 overall record and are ranked No. 25 in the country. 

Montana Tech jumped out to a 17–8 lead after the opening quarter and continued to extend its advantage behind efficient shooting and forced turnovers. The Orediggers shot better than 50 percent from the field for the game and outscored Mayville State 27–9 in the third quarter to break the game open.

Mayville State was led offensively by Laela Jensen, who finished with a team-high 11 points, including seven in the fourth quarter. Whitney Welk added nine points, knocking down three 3-pointers off the bench, while Hannah Stark contributed seven points and eight rebounds.
