HAVRE, Mont. — The Mayville State women's basketball team battled another top 25 team on the road Friday night coming up short against Montana State Northern, falling 84-57 in Frontier Conference action.
Northern jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, racing to a 25-12 first quarter advantage and maintaining control throughout the night. Despite a continuous effort from the Comets, the Skylights used balanced scoring and strong shooting to build a double-digit lead by halftime.
Leading the way for MSU was Misti Zempel, who delivered a team-high 18 points on an efficient 7-of-13 from the field. Whitney Welk added a solid performance off the wing with 12 points, while Jayla Cleveland contributed 11 points in support.
