Sioux Falls, S.D. - Mayville State Comets Baseball started Frontier Conference play this past weekend taking on four teams in the Frontier Conference Pre-Season Tournament. The Comets went 2-2 on the weekend.

Game 1 vs. Dickinson State W 3-1

• The Comets opened the Frontier Conference tournament with a 3–1 win over Dickinson State University, scoring all three runs in the second inning on a three-run homer by Tony Villarreal
• Tony Villarreal provided the decisive swing, while Robert Gurney added two hits
• Garret Lundmark dominated on the mound with eight innings, 13 strikeouts, and just one run allowed, before Kyler Droog closed the ninth with three strikeouts for his fourth save
• Lundmark and Droog combined for 16 strike outs

Game 2 vs. No. 4 Bellevue L 9-14

• Mayville State dropped a high-scoring 14–9 game to the Bellevue Bruins after battling back multiple times 
• Kevin Conway led the Comet offense by going 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored, while Jack McQueen added two hits and three RBIs and Bode Roberts launched a two-run homer in the seventh inning
• The Comets finished with 11 hits and scored in five different innings, trimming the deficit to five with two runs in the ninth, but Bellevue answered with 14 hits of its own, including two home runs in the opening inning
• The Brunis are ranked No. 4 in the country and have a record of 20-3 overall

Game 3 vs. Bismarck State College L 0-3

• The Comets were shut out 3–0 by Bismarck State College, with all three runs coming in the sixth inning after a scoreless pitchers' duel through five frames
• Jaxon Parker kept the Comets in the game with five strong innings, allowing just four hits and striking out seven before Bismarck State broke through late in the game
• Kevin Conway doubled and Zachary Evanochko added a single in the seventh as Mayville State put two runners on in its final at-bat, but the Comets were limited to just three hits overall and left the tying run on deck

Game 4 vs. Dakota State W 2-0

• Mayville State earned a 2–0 shutout over Dakota State University behind a dominant no-hit performance from Sebastian Mizener, who struck out five in a full 7 innings 
• Mizener has the first solo no-hitter since 2013 by Todd Leavitt
• The Comets had a combined no-hitter in 2023 by Derek Palmiere (5.1 innings) and Jack Patten (1.2 innings)
• Cameron Goff delivered the game's only offense in the third inning with a two-run single that scored Hugh Montgomery and Juan Villarreal, giving the Comets all they needed.
• Mayville State finished with five hits, including two from Juan Villarreal, while Dakota State was held hitless and reached only once on a seventh-inning error
