Sam Thielen is a Senior Catcher/Outfielder for the Comets this season. After high school, he attended M-State Fergus Falls for two seasons, starting both seasons as the Spartans’ catcher. After receiving his Associate Arts degree, he transferred to Mayville State as a junior where he is double-majoring in Fitness & Wellness and Health and double-minoring in Applied Psychology and Coaching.

Achievements: Sam was a three-year letter winner in baseball, football, and track&field and a two-year letter winner in basketball at Wheaton Area High School. He won the Minnesota State High School League TripleA Award as a senior in 2009. At M-State Fergus Falls, Sam won Male Athlete of the Year his sophomore season, and, since attending college, he has made the Dean’s List all six semesters.
