Matt Piker is entering his fourth year on the staff at Mayville State baseball team, he is the pitching coach and assists with recruiting.
During his first three seasons as pitching coach he has multiple NSAA All-Conference players, including Austin Harrington in 2018-19. Harrington was named to 1st Team All-Conference with a 3.27 ERA, 66.0 Innings Pitched, 66 Strikeouts, and 24 Earned Runs.
Prior to his time with the Comets he was at Arkansas Tech University. He served as the outfield coach and an offensive assistant from 2015-2017. In the fall of 2016, he was named the Pitching Coach for the Comets.
He began his coaching career at his alma mater, University of the Ozarks, in 2014 as was the outfield coach. Piker was a member of the Ozarks pitching staff from 2011-2013. He has been an active member of the ABCA (American Baseball Coach Association) for the last 6 years.
Piker has been actively involved with collegiate summer ball throughout his career. He was the Assistant Coach of the Briarcliffe Seagulls in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League in 2015, as well as, the Head Coach of the Chesterfield Vipers from 2016-2017 in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate League.
A native of Pottsville, AR, Piker graduated from University of the Ozarks in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Physical Education and a minor in Health and received his Master’s in College Student Personnel from Arkansas Tech University in 2017.
He and his wife, Haley, both reside in Mayville.
