Erik Gibson

Coach Erik Gibson will be entering his 1st season with Mayville State University and will serve as Wide Receivers Coach. Prior to joining the Comets, Gibson was most recently the Special Teams Coordinator, Assistant Offensive and Defensive Line Coach and Head Equipment Manager with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League. Coach Gibson has over nine years of coaching experience between high school and arena/indoor coaching ranks. He played wide receiver collegiately at Valdosta State University under coaches like Hal Mumme, Mike Leach, and Mike Kelly. After college Coach Gibson spent time in the NFL camps and the CFL, and played arena/indoor football for 7 years as a wide receiver, defensive back, and linebacker. Coach Gibson has a Bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State in Criminal Justice. He is married to his wife Heather and has two sons Brady (11) and Braylon (3).
