Schmidt attended Ashley High School in Ashley, North Dakota. He excelled in basketball and football for four years. Trevor set school records for defensive rebounds in a game and assists in a season. He maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated as the Salutatorian.
He is the son of Jessica and Jason Schmidt and has two sisters, Katie and Nicole.
