Ashley Tomblin

Ashley Tomblin is set to begin her seventh season at the helm of the Mayville State University softball team. She also assumes the role of a faculty member in the HPER department on campus.

Coach Tomblin has found a great deal of success both on and off the field since taking over the Comet softball program.

Under Tomblin’s direction, the Comets have broken numerous team records including batting average (.309), slugging percentage (.448), doubles (80), shutouts (3), total wins (22), and winning percentage (.458) in program history since joining the NAIA. The Comets also made the championship round of the NSAA conference tournament during the 2017 season.

Since the transition to the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA), Coach Tomblin has coached two Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 15 NSAA Scholar-Athletes, and 12 NSAA All-Conference members, including NSAA Player-of-the-Year in Nina Gurgian during the 2015 season. She has also coached three NSAA Players-of-the-Week in Haley Kravetz, Alexandria Tinoco, and Nina Gurgian.

Prior to Coach Tomblin’s arrival in Mayville, she pitched for the Conquistadors of Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas during the 2009-10 seasons. She then went on to transfer to Mayville State to play for the Comets for her final two seasons. During her senior campaign, Tomblin helped her team to a 17-win finish and ended with a 4.86 ERA in 98 innings pitched with 42 strikeouts. Coach Tomblin graduated from Mayville State with a Bachelor’s in Physical Education with minors in Coaching and DAPE in 2012. Most recently, Tomblin graduated with her Master’s in Athletic Administration from Concordia University – Irvine in 2017.
