Andi Gayner will begin her third season as Women's Basketball Assistant Coach. Coach Gayner joined the Comet coaching staff after a very successful playing career at Mayville State.
Coach Gayner is in charge of the defensive play for the Comets as well as post play. She is also responsible for game day scouting reports and fundraising. She splits her time between the women's basketball program and the Mayville State admissions office by helping with MSU recruiting and processing applications.
During her two years coaching for the Comets, she has coached two NSAA MVP's, two All-Americans, and four All-Conference players. She was also a part of the 2019 NSAA Women's Basketball that advanced to the National Tournament.Â
Before she started coaching, Coach Gayner played four years at Mayville State and finished her career with 1757 points, which is second in MSU history, 736 rebounds, 137 steals, 76 blocks, and 164 assists. She was also 4-time All-Conference and 2-time All-American Honorable Mention during her time at Mayville State. Before Mayville State, Andi Gayner graduated from Dassel-Cokato High Schhol and played AAU basketball with the Minnesota Comets.Â
Coach Gayner graduated from Mayville State with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Mayville State. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Legal Studies and Master of Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University.
