Claire Canahuate

Coach Claire Canahuate has been a part of Mayville State University since 2016. She played basketball here from 2016 to 2020. In her time playing here, she helped lead the team to an 81-35 record and scored 1,194 points and over 300 career assists. In her 4 years of playing, they were Regular Season Champions twice and won the Conference Tournament Championship once leading to a National Tournament appearance.

After graduating from Mayville State in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management she went straight into coaching here. In the first 4 years of coaching here, the team has a record of 84-25 with 3 straight 20+ win seasons. With those wins it led to being Regular Season Champions once, Conference Tournament Champions twice, with 2 National Tournament appearances making it to the round of 32 and the sweet 16 the following year.

This year Claire is working in Enrollment Services at Mayville State, working with recruiting students and athletes to the University while simultaneously being the assistant for the women’s basketball program again.

Claire also has helped run youth/team camps and has done individual lessons both locally, through the University, and traveling to locations around North Dakota and Minnesota. She has worked alongside her father in the Minnesota area with his camps through his company “Hoopology” as well.
