Jenna Bolstad enters her first season as the head women’s basketball coach at Mayville State University, bringing more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience and a strong background in player development, recruiting, scouting, culture building, and defensive strategy. She was named head coach in May of 2026.
Prior to arriving at Mayville State, Bolstad spent one season at Cleveland State University, where the Vikings finished with a 26-10 record and advanced to the WNIT Great Eight. While at Cleveland State, she oversaw man defensive coverage and guard development.
During the 2024-25 season, Bolstad also served as co-defensive coordinator at Northern Illinois University, directing guard development while coordinating team culture and leadership initiatives.
Bolstad spent two seasons from 2022-24 as the head coach at Miles Community College, helping lead the Pioneers while mentoring multiple All-Conference players. During the 2023-24 season, her team led the NJCAA in GPA with a 3.76 cumulative GPA.
Before her time at Miles Community College, Bolstad served as an assistant coach at Montana Technological University from 2019-22 after four seasons at Williston State College.
She also spent the 2014-15 season as a graduate assistant coach at Black Hills State University. Bolstad began her coaching career as the head girls basketball coach at Ray High School in Ray, North Dakota.
A former standout student-athlete, Bolstad graduated from Culbertson High School in Culbertson, Montana before beginning her collegiate playing career at Miles Community College. During her two seasons with the Pioneers, the program compiled a 56-8 overall record. She later transferred to Black Hills State University, where she helped guide the Lady Yellow Jackets to two NAIA National Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight finish in 2009.
Bolstad went on to serve as a student assistant coach at Black Hills State while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Health in 2011. She later completed her Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership from Black Hills State University in 2017.
Throughout her career, Bolstad has built a reputation for developing strong team culture, emphasizing player growth on and off the court, and creating competitive, disciplined programs grounded in accountability and genuine relationships.
