Ben Carpenter is returning to Mayville State University for his 17th as the assistant athletic trainer for Comet athletics. Carpenter was contracted to provide athletic training coverage to MSU from 2001-2008 with MeritCare Sports Medicine and returned in 2010 after a two-year hiatus from the MSU campus.
Carpenter is a 1998 graduate of the University of North Dakota with a B.S. in Athletic Training. After graduation, Carpenter worked with Altru as an athletic trainer covering schools in Stephen-Argyle, Karlstad, and Lancaster in Minnesota and Larimore, Northwood, and Dakota Prairie schools in North Dakota.
In 2000, Carpenter joined the Orthopedics department at Altru as an Orthopedic Assistant helping with surgeries, bracing, and casting. In 2001, he began his first stint at MSU until 2008 when MeritCare chose to not renew the sports medicine contract. With the merger of MeritCare Health Systems and Sanford Health in 2010, a renewed commitment to quality regional athletic training coverage returned and Carpenter returned to MSU.
Ben is a 1987 graduate of Oslo High School in Oslo, Minnesota. He resides in Argusville, N.D. with his wife Jerilee and three children: Lexi, Brock, and Cole.
