The Mayville State University women's basketball team picked up a big road win in Madison, S.D. in Dakota Athletic Conference action. The Comets defeated the Trojans by a score of 80-75.
Laura Taylor turned in an outstanding performance for Mayville State, pouring in 24 points as she went 6-for-15 from the field and 12-for-16 from the free throw line. Taylor also pulled down an amazing 18 rebounds. The sophomore post came up with 11 offensive rebounds alone to get huge second-chance points for the Comets.
The Comets also got an outstanding effort from freshman guard
Hailey Longtin with 21 points.
Hannah Wenaas and
Angela Tauer each scored 12 points and
Kay Laforet rounded out the scoring with 11.
MSU jumped out to an 18-point lead in the second half before Dakota State put together a late comeback to cut it to single digits. The Trojans were led by Cassie Jacobsen with 21 points. Kylie Westover was the only other DSU player in double figures with 18.
