Mayville State University hosted the Jamestown College Jimmies in men's basketball on Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse. The Comets had a lead at halftime, but the Jimmies were able to cut into the lead and win the game 78-68.
Mayville State was also able to welcome
Christian Harris back into the line-up after he missed some time due to a broken nose.
Ross Aman led the Comets with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Aman played strong in the paint, battling with Travis Burley most of the night. Burley finished with game-highs in points with 28, and rebounds with 14. He was a big factor for Jamestown during the comeback.
The Comets were pretty balanced offensively in this contest. Five players hit double figures in scoring. After Amans' 16 points was
Dalonte Gibson with 13,
Bryen Pyles had 12, and
David Slezak and
Shavontae Samuels each added 10.
The Jimmies won the battle on the boards with a 34-25 advantage there. After Travis Burley the Jimmies had C.J. Peeters pull down nine rebounds. Peters was also second on the Jimmies with 23 points in the game. Peeters was extremely efficient going 9-for-11 from the floor.
Mayville State hit a cold streak in the second half as they struggled to hit shots ultimately leading them to the close defeat. The Comets struggled from the outside in the second half going 1-for-7 from downtown.
Mayville State University will be bringing in Valley City State University on Saturday, February 18, 2011 for the regular season finale. It is senior night for Mayville States basketball teams on Saturday. Four seniors will be honored on Saturday.
