Mayville, N.D. - Mayville State Men's Basketball had a weekend that was on the line. They needed to get at least one win between Friday & Saturday's games and also needed other factors to fall into place in order to secure their spot in the 2025-26 Frontier Conference Post Season Tournament. 

After falling to Rocky Mountain 59-87 on Friday night, the Comets knew they had to fight to stay alive against Carroll on Saturday night. They did just that. They held off the Saints, who were 17-4 in conference and sat in 3rd place in the standings. 

With the 93-79 statement win over Carroll, the Comets awaited for the rest of the league to play out. The final tie in the standings came down to the eighth-place team between Valley City State, Dickinson State and the Comets who all had a 6-16 conference record. 

The tiebreaker went to the Comets with a 3-1 record within three teams together (MSU 3-1 record, VCSU 2-2 record, and DiSU 1-3 record). The Comets will now play No. 1 seeded Rocky Mountain on Friday, February 27th at 6:00pm CT in Butte, Montana.
