Comet bench scores 41 points in road win over Dickinson State University

Mike Lindsay scores 21 points off the bench to lead the team in points in the victory.

DICKINSON, N.D. – Michael Lindsay came off the bench for the MSU men's basketball team to score 21 points and grab five rebounds as the Comets defeated Dickinson State University 74-66 in the Dickinson State Classic on Saturday, November 30, 2013.

Lindsay was very efficient in the game going 7-for-10 from the field and 5-of-6 at the free throw line. This was the best game he has played for MSU this season in a big road victory.

MSU had a solid night of bench production in addition to Lindsay. David Olson scored 12 points while knocking down 3 three-point shots and Sean Norton scored eight points including 6-of-8 from the free throw line. More than half (41 points) of the Comet offense (74 points) came from these three players.

Charlton Wilson was the only starter for MSU to hit double figures with 12 points.

The Comet defense held the Blue Hawks to shooting 35% from the floor and forced 19 turnovers. MSU had advantages in both of those areas as they shot 42% and committed 15 turnovers. The teams were dead even in the rebounding battle at 42 apiece.

Lindsay and DJ Carroll each grabbed five rebounds to lead MSU.

The Comets built their lead in the first half getting out to a 42-34 lead over DSU. The teams played to a stalemate in the second half, each scoring 32 points as the final score was 74-66 in favor of Mayville State.
The Comets (4-2) host the University of Minnesota-Morris on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
