Comet women roll on the road over Minnesota-Morris 83-62

McMillan goes for 22 points, seven rebounds in victory.

MORRIS, MN –Marcisa McMillan turned in a 22 point, seven rebound effort in a decisive 83-62 road victory over the University of Minnesota-Morris. The Comets (9-2, 0-0) had four starters hit double figures as they continue to have great balance offensively.

Hailey Longtin (15 points), Liza Hoglo (13 points, five rebounds), and Sam Heier (10 points) added to McMillan's impressive night to keep the Cougars defense off balance.

MSU found different ways to score as the three-ball wasn't falling (6-for-22) to get to 83 points. The Comets were 26-of-39 on shots inside the arch (67%) to balance out the off shooting night. The Comets were still 52.5% from the floor (32-for-61) in the game.

The two halves were almost mirror images of each other with Mayville State taking a 42-31 lead at halftime. The second half score was one point different as MSU outscored the Cougars 41-31 for a final score of 83-62.

Defensively, Mayville State was solid in the game, holding Morris to 33.3% shooting (21-for-63) and won the rebounding battle 43-35. Sabrina Rude (5 points) led the team in rebounds with eight in the game.

Mayville State will return home for a pair of games with Oglala Lakota College on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday game is set for 5:00 p.m. with the Sunday game set for a 2:00 p.m. start.
