Comets fall to Dakota State on the road

MSU drops to 0-3 in the NSAA in loss.

Madison, S.D. – The Comet men's basketball team played their third NSAA conference game on Wednesday night in Madison, South Dakota against Dakota State University.

The Trojans rebounding advantage (45-30) was a big key in their win as they controlled the glass and tempo of the game. They also shot the ball very well from the outside, connecting on 11 three-pointers in the game.

The Comets were led in scoring by Jonathon Butler with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting. He was followed closely by Easton Page with 14 points. Page also finished with four rebounds and four assists to go with his 7-of-11 shooting from the floor.

Andrew Berge scored 11 points and had three rebounds in the game for Mayville State.

Michael Lindsay led the team with eight rebounds, followed by Colin Fitz with seven. Alex Herman led the team in steals with two.

Dakota State had a balanced attack offensively with five players hitting double-digit scoring. Miguel Sansavour led the Trojans with 19 points, 10 rebounds in the game. Dylan Hale followed with 18 points.

Mayville State (6-13, 0-3 NSAA) will be looking to get their first NSAA victory of the season this Saturday, February 1, 2014 against Presentation College (11-7, 0-2 NSAA). The game time is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse.
