Valley City, N.D. – The #14 Mayville State Lady Comets (20-3, 5-1 NSAA) dominated the first half with a 51 point offensive outburst on their way to an 87-65 victory over Valley City State University Wednesday night.
Hailey Longtin posted her 29
th career game of 20 or more points (21 points) as she continues to climb up the all-time scoring list.
MSU was balanced offensively with five players hitting double figures in the game.
Marcisa McMillan got the Comets rolling early and finished the game with 15 points, six rebounds. She was efficient offensively going 7-of-8 from the field.
Sabrina Rude was solid off the bench once again with 15 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one assist. She knocked in 5 three-pointers during the game.
Samantha Heier scored 14 points, added four assists, and two rebounds in the game.
Liza Hoglo had a good all-around game with 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. She was 3-of-4 from the field and 4-for-5 at the charity stripe.
The Comets led the Vikings 51-29 at halftime and the two teams played even in the second half (36-36) as the final score ended up at 87-65 for the Comets 20
th victory of the season.
This is the second 20-win season in a row for head coach
Dennis Hutter and the Comet women's basketball team.
Mayville State (20-3, 5-1 NSAA) will be in action again on Saturday, February 15
th, 2014 for their second match-up with Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. It's the final regular season road game for the Mayville State women's basketball team.
