Box Score Aberdeen, S.D. – The Comets finished up their road schedule this season with a game against Presentation College on Saturday, February 15, 2014. The Comets and Saints played a close game the first time around with the Saints edging out a one point win.
The second time around was the same end result and another close game.
MSU trailed the Saints 37-28 at the half in large part from the balanced offense their opponents had. Four players hit double figures in the game and helped keep the offense spread out. Chevy Fischer and Chaz Haymond each put in 15 points for the Saints to lead the team in scoring.
The Comets outscored the Saints in the second half (38-37) but couldn't make a big enough dent in the lead to take over the game and come away with the victory. Presentation College prevailed to win the game 74-66.
Jonathon Butler led the offense for MSU with a game-high 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting. He finished with five rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal in the game.
Following Butler was
Michael Lindsay and Colin Fitz. The two each chipped in 12 points for MSU. Lindsay added four rebounds and three assists whiles Fitz had three rebounds and one steal.
Mayville State (7-17, 0-7 North Star Athletic Association) will host Dakota State University on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the Lewey Lee Fieldhouse. It will be the final game of the season for the Comets and will be senior night as well.
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
