ABERDEEN, S.D. – Junior forward
Michael Lindsay gave a tough performance with 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting but it wouldn't be enough as Mayville State fell to Presentation 56-49 in the first round of the NSAA conference tournament.
Lindsay added 15 rebounds in 34 minutes for Mayville State (7-19). Senior
Jonathon Butler had a solid outing of 13 points, nine rebounds, and one block. Junior
Easton Page chipped in 11 points and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line. The Comets were perfect from the foul line in the game connecting on all eight of their attempts.
MSU led the Saints at the half in a low-scoring contest at 24-21. The Saints shot just 29 percent for the game (16-for-54) from the floor.
The Saints biggest advantage in the game was at the foul line. PC shot 20-of-27 from the charity stripe which was a big difference in the game.
Neither team shot the ball well from the outside as MSU (3-of-17) and PC (4-for-16) couldn't get the three-point shot to fall.
Presentation had a big night from their bench with 29 points coming from the second unit. The only Saints players to hit double figures, Gregory Garret (13) and Jeremy Comer (10) did so off the bench.
The loss in the first round brings the 2013-14 season to a close with a final record of 7-19 in 2013-14. Eight of those losses came by 10 points or less this year and the Comets return a nice core of players to keep building toward the future next year.
