Comets Pick Up Two on Sunday


Comets 8, Mount Marty 3
Shaye Kemball drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Comets past Mount Marty 8-3 on Sunday. Kemball drove in runs on a single in the first, a double in the fourth, and a single in the sixth.

Mayville State opened up scoring in the first inning when Kemball singled on the first pitch of the at bat early in the game, scoring Dayna Gutierrez. 

The Comets then scored three runs in the fourth inning. Gutierrez and Kemball were both in the mix again, driving in runs for MSU.

Kemball took care of things on the rubber for Mayville State in game one today. She lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out nine.

Mayville State racked up ten hits in the game. Jade Ledochowski and Kemball both managed three hits to lead MSU.

Makenzi Howard led Mount Marty with two hits in three at bats.

Comets 4, Benedictine Mesa 2
An early lead helped Mayville State defeat Benedictine Mesa 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Comets scored on a sacrifice fly by Alissa Foster and a double by Tai Yamamoto in the first inning to get things going and held on to the lead late to take the win.

Annika Seedborg toed the rubber for Mayville State. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking one.

The Comets racked up eight hits on the day. Foster and Amanda Izzo each racked up a couple hits for Mayville State. Benedictine Mesa tallied six hits with Grace Helyer and Shannon Smith each delivering multiple hits.
