Quinton Bidon collected four hits in six at bats, as the Comets defeated Lourdes University 19-4 on Thursday. Bidon led off the fifth with a double, then doubled again in the same inning, driving in a run this time to make things 8-2. Then the Enumclaw, Wash. native connected for another double in the ninth, and added one more base hit later in the inning to tally four hits on the day.
The Comets took the lead for good with eight runs in the fifth inning. Other than Bidon's two doubles, that inning saw
Evyn Yamaguchi's sac fly score a run, a
Paxton Ketchum triple that scored a run, and a
Riley Nelson single on a 0-2 count that scored
Paxton Ketchum.
Jon Pluth later singled on a 0-1 count, scoring another run, then
Jared McCorrister tripled, scoring two runs, and
Adrian Zubia finished the big inning with a single on a 3-1 count, scoring Bidon to make it 9-2.
The big inning was enough for the Comets to take the game, but they managed to add plenty of insurance runs down the stretch.
