Late Scores Best Comets

Saturday's game against Bellevue was a heartbreaker for the Comets, as they lost the lead late in a 9-7 loss to the Bruins. The game was tied at seven with Bellevue batting in the bottom of the seventh when Stuart Eurich singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Kody Banks to give BU the lead and eventual win.

The Comets got things started in the first inning scoring two runs after Zach Foster doubled to right field, scoring Paxton Ketchum and Jared McCorrister to make things 2-0 early.

Bellevue responded with three runs in the third inning. Tommy Hansen, Kody Banks, and Daniel Teasley all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning to keep the Bruins in it.

Three runs came in the seventh for the Comets later on with the Bruins responding with two runs of their own to maintain their lead.

Brandon Desjardins led things off on the mound for Bellevue. He allowed three hits and four runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one.

Oz Escobar was on the hill for the Comets. He surrendered five runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out two. Gabe Lizarraga and Quinton Bidon entered the game as relief, throwing four innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.

Despite the loss, the Comets collected 11 hits in the high-scoring affair. Zach Foster, Paxton Ketchum, and Mason Przybilla all had multiple hits to lead the way for the Comets.
