Comets 1, Bruins 10
Mayville State watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-1 loss to the Bruins in game one on Sunday. The Bruins got on the board in the first inning when Ellie Bliemeister hit a solo homer, Bellevue never looked back.
The Comets struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Bruins. Bellevue scored five more runs in the sixth inning, the big inning was driven by home runs by Kayla Young and Erin Sharpe and a single by Bliemeister.
Lauren Jurek got the start for the Bruins. She surrendered one run on four hits over five innings, striking out two.
Annika Seedborg led things off in the pitcher's circle for Mayville State. She went five innings, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out five.
Lindsey Swanson threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.
Mayville State's lone score came in the sixth inning when
Shaye Kemball smacked a home run over the right field fence.Â

Comets 6, Bruins 5
The Comets stole the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over the Bruins in game two. The game was tied at four with Mayville State batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored
Shaye Kemball to give the Comets the 5-4 lead. Another run would come across the plate after a wild pitch to make it 6-4.
The Bruins evened things up at four in the bottom of the sixth inning when Grace Glotfelty homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs. but Mayville State responded nicely and still managed to pull out the victory with the two runs in the seventh.
Mayville State opened up scoring in the first inning after
Amanda Izzo scored on a passed ball. The Comets added runs in the third, fourth, and fifth to make it 4-1 going into the sixth.Â
The Bruins managed to load the bases in the bottom of the seventh and bring one run in, but
Shaye Kemball was able to close the door and get the win for the Comets. She allowed nine hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out one.
The Comets totaled eight hits in the game.
Alissa Foster and Kemball both managed two hits for Mayville State to lead the way in game two.
