Comets Split with Saints


Comets 7, Saints 3
Mayville State defeated Presentation College 7-3 in game one of their doubleheader on Friday afternoon. The Comets got on the board in the first inning when Zachary Foster singled on a 3-2 count, scoring Paxton Ketchum to make it 1-0.

Craig Broadman led the Comets to victory on the pitcher's mound. He went five and a third innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out five and walking one. Oz Escobar and Matthew Johnston entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief for the win. 

Joey Wollman took the loss for Presentation. He surrendered four runs on nine hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one.

The Comets collected 14 hits in game one. Foster, Jared McCorrister, Riley Nelson, and Paxton Ketchum all had a pair of hits for MSU. 


Comets 1, Saints 4
MSU out-hit Presentation seven to five in game two, but it wasn't enough in a 4-1 loss against the Saints. 

BJ Wyche was the winning pitcher for Presentation. He went six innings, allowing one run on seven hits, and striking out one. CJ Canfield threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, he recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Saints.

Adam Senden provided the lone run with a home run over the left field fence in the seventh inning .

Paxton Ketchum led the Comets with two hits in four at bats.
