Comets Sweep Again


Comets 11, Saints 0
Mayville State defeated Presentation 11-0 in game one on Saturday as Annika Seedborg and Sidney Fairbanks combined to throw a shutout for the Comets. 

Shaye Kemball led the Comets to victory by driving in five runs. She went 2-for-3 at the plate to drive in runs on a grand slam in the first and a single in the second.

Mayville State tallied four runs in the first, one in the second, five in the third, and one more in the fourth. Mayville State's big inning was driven by doubles from Sierra Niedge and Dayna Gutierrez, a groundout by Nicole Bunting, and an error on a ball put in play by Kemball.

Annika Seedborg went four innings, allowing two hits and no runs while striking out five and walking none.

Mayville State hit two home runs on the day. Kemball had the long ball in the first inning, then Jade Ledochowski went deep in the fourth inning over the center field fence.

The Comets racked up 15 hits in the game. Bunting, Ledochowski, Laura Spurgeon, Niedge, Kemball, and Gutierrez all collected multiple hits for MSU. 


Comets 17, Saints 4
Alissa Foster was dialed in at the plate in game two, tallying four hits and leading Mayville State to a 17-4 win over Presentation. Foster singled in the first, tripled in the fourth, homered in the seventh, and singled again later in the seventh to cap off her big day.

An early lead helped propel Mayville State to victory. The Comets scored on a single by Foster in the first inning, a single by Sierra Niedge in the second inning, and a error in the second inning to take the lead.

Mayville State took went ahead for good with those four runs in the second and never looked back from there, adding two more in the fourth, two in the sixth, then capping it off with a eight runs in the seventh. 

Shaye Kemball was in the circle for Mayville State in game two. She allowed five hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out six.

Darrian Gibson started the game for Presentation. She lasted seven innings, allowing 14 hits and 17 runs while striking out one.

Mayville State hit two home runs on the day. Ledochowski had a dinger in the seventh inning. Foster also went deep in the seventh.

Foster went 4-for-6 at the plate to lead Mayville State in game two.
